LOCAL & SUSTAINABLE

The need for local, quality offerings is growing in our area, but with that growth comes responsibility. Sustainability is foundational to Accord Market.

Partnering with Community Compost, we compost our food waste and have a weekly pickup. We are also a Drop Spot for the community, enabling customers to easily drop their compost.

Accord Market features a bulk corner, with bulk food offerings such as oats, nuts & grains, as well as soaps & detergents. We also feature a zero-waste homegoods section to make sustainable choices that much easier to make.

Our market will be carbon neutral. We have installed solar panels on our roof to make use of 100% renewable power, and invest in sequestration to offset carbon created by the production and transportation of the food and products we sell.

Another sustainable approach? Keeping it local. This not only supports our local farms and vendors, but is also good for the environment.

Good partners are essential to success and our grocery owes much to the Rondout Valley Growers Association. RVGA is a farmer-led nonprofit organization, deeply rooted both in farming and in community; one that is committed to celebrating and educating about the importance of local farming.

Community Compost Company just launched a new composting drop spot at Accord Market! Did you know more than half of household trash could be composted? CCC is a Ulster County-based women-owned business that recycles food scraps into organic compost at their farm facility in Kerhonkson. Their goal is to restore soil in the region with compost to build healthier and more resilient communities.
